Fritton Lake
norfolk, England
Private holiday spot at the heart of a Norfolk rewilding project, offering space for relaxing, nature, activity, fitness, wild swimming and coaching retreats
prices available on request | Capacity 12 guests
Set in a 1,000-acre nature restoration project, Fritton Lake is as ideal for high activity retreats, such as fitness, paddle-boarding and swimming, as it is for yoga retreats, relaxation, treatments and recharging your batteries. Based on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, near Great Yarmouth, in unspoilt woodland and surrounded by lush, verdant meadows, it offers a vibrant Clubhouse, once a 16th century manor house, along with a swimming pool, tennis courts, a floating sauna and a gym. Enjoy nature, peace and quiet and as much or as little activity as you like.
-
The friendly, relaxed Clubhouse is at the heart of this venue, and its Pink Room has space for up to 16 people. There is also a classroom with studio space for up to 75 people. The Biophilic Gym is designed to bring inside the wellbeing benefits of the great outdoors and comes fully equipped with handcrafted kit made of natural materials. The floating sauna on the lake offers superb views.

The two-mile long lake is the venue's pièce de résistance - it's perfect for wild swimming and paddle-boarding, or just relaxing or meditating by. As well as the 22m outdoor, heated swimming pool, with deckchairs and open fires, there are four tennis courts (grass, French clay and all weather clay). Choose to wander by formal gardens, in remote woodland, or on the beach on the lake. You can also have a marquee for up to 24 people on Wildflower Meadow.
-
You'll stay in one of eight charming rooms, each individually decorated, in the Clubhouse, which offers five double rooms, two twin rooms and one room that sleeps four with a double bed and twin beds. All have quirky names, such as Billy Ward, Lady Jackson and Herringfleet Boathouse. Or you can stay in one of two traditional farm cottages, Decoy and Buxton, which have two double bedrooms each. These picturesque, red-brick cottages are surrounded by meadow and woodland, and are dog-friendly.
-
There's a convivial atmosphere at the Clubhouse, where you can relax on deep sofas and in winter months, there are roaring fires for extra cosiness. Relax at the Beachside Bar and the Boathouse Bar. You can eat at The Clubhouse, which can cater for 48 inside and 50 on the south-facing terrace.
-
Join a nature safari by jeep or boat, get some tennis coaching or try your hand at archery or raft-building. You can go orienteering, wild swimming, paddle-boarding, and foraging. There are spaces and equipment for petanque, volleyball and croquet, or you might go for a guided wild run or a workout in the gym. Treatments include reiki and sound baths and massages include holistic, hot stone, pregnancy and Indian head.
-
Chefs will create bespoke menus using locally sourced products for retreats, including fitness classics such as smoothies and protein balls. All eating styles - omnivores, vegetarians, vegans and gluten-free - can be catered for. Enjoy a wild feast (barbecue) in the Wild East barn or at the beach. Wild picnics can be organised anywhere on the estate.
-
The 1,000-acre rewilding project and 4,000-acre regenerative farm contributes to biodiversity across the estate, while all food is sourced as locally as possible to reduce travel miles. The swimming pool is heated with a ground source heat pump and the biogym equipment is designed to operate kinetically so there is no need for electricity.
The Extraordinary
Being so steeped in nature is an experience, whether you're relaxing in the floating sauna watching wildlife or out on a safari seeing it close-up.
The less than ordinary
You may share communal areas with non-retreat guests who might not have the same mindset as you. Being away from distractions and the hustle and bustle might not suit everyone.
